Shadowstar was born on a rainy moonless night. She was the only one out of her litter mates to survive. The medicine cat had done everything he could to save the two helpless kits, but they were dead by morning. Shadowkit, as the only surviving kit, was given all the attention from her mother, a black and red Charizard. Her father was a light gray Houndoom. Shadowkit herself displayed more Houndour traits than Charmander; her firey tail was the only thing that gave her Charizard roots away.
As the moons passed, Shadowkit remained strong and healthy, never showing signs of the sickness that had claimed her litter mates. At six moons, she was made an apprentice and given to Snaketooh, an Umbreon with dark red rings. Shadowpaw's Charmander side evolved withing three moons of training. Her tail flame became brighter, and she developed the beginning of horns on her head. She was also slightly taller.
Now that Shadowpaw was about the same size as her mentor, Snaketooth began to teach her harder battle moves. By twelve moons, Shadowpaw was as good as the most senior warrior. The other warriors often said that Snaketooth shouldn't have taught her such advanced move at such a young age, but they soon changed their mind when Shadowpaw chased off two wolves by herself. It wasn't that she was overly confident in herself, but when the spotted the two lumbering creatures in the woods, they were dangerously close the camp and if she had gone back for help, they might have broken the camp barrier. She didn't have a choice but to fight them there. During the fight, her Houndour self evolved in to Houndoom, making her equal size to the wolves. This is what really gave her the chance to win.
Soon after the wolf incident, Shadowpaw was given her warrior name, Shadowfire. After she became a warrior, Shadowfire calmed down considerably, and her maturity and level headed mind became her dominant personality traits. There wasn't a thing she didn't do without considering all the options. She was soon acting like a senior warrior.
When Shadowfire was twenty moons, she was given her first apprentice, Pinepaw. She trained him according to his personality. He was a shy Areodactyl, so Shadowfire trained him exclusively in defensive moves until he was eight moons. By this time he had become more confident in himself, and in response, Shadowfire started teaching him offensive moves.
Shadowfire was now twenty-eight moons, and a lot was about to happen. First, the deputy died in a battle with WindClan. The warrior he was fighting off had dealt him a deadly blow to the head; he was killed instantly. Second, Pinepaw was the receive his warrior name soon. At moonhigh that night the leader called a Clan meeting. The first thing he did was give Pinepaw his warrior name, Pinetail. The next thing the leader did was appoint the new deputy.
"I say these words before the body of Redclaw, so that he may hear and approve my choice. Shadowfire will be the new deputy of ShadowClan."
Shadowfire froze. She was rigid when the Clan turned to look at her. Her mother put a hand on her shoulder. She hardly felt it. Me deputy? How...? Her red gaze drifted up to Nettlestar; he had a smile on her face. She relaxed instantly and stood up. She boldly kept her gaze on Nettlestar. "Thank you, Nettlestar. I never expected to be made leader. I will serve you the best I can."
She deputy for eight moons before Nettlestar lost his last life. During those eight moons, her mother and father both died from greencough. They were old and catnip came to them to late. When Nettlestar died it was in the middle of the night. He was old, and despite his efforts, just couldn't hold on to that last life. Shadowfire immediately appointed Darktail as her deputy, and she got some rest for the journey to the Moonstone later that morning.
It was early in the morning the next day when she and the medicine Poke returned from the Moonstone. During her leader ceremony, Shadowfire evolved again. She was now taller than the average Houndoom, and had a pair of wings. As she addressed her Clan from the High Branch, her tail flame burned brighter, and her Clan had a new respect for her shining in their eyes. She was Shadowstar now. She would give up everything to defend her Clan.

Shadowstar sat upon the High Branch, looking out over her Clan. She wasn't calling a meeting today. There wasn't a reason too. Everything had been peaceful in and between the Clans lately. There hadn't been any significant battle since the one Redclaw had died in. WindClan had obviously learned their lesson about crossing the border. She twitched a lip just thinking about it.
Shadowstar flicked her gaze over to gathering warriors. Probably a border patrol. She thought moving her gaze elsewhere. Any other time she would have joined them, but today she was content to sit on the High Branch and watch her Clan.
"Shadowstar!" A call rang out through the camp before a black and red pelt burst through the camp entrance. The warrior was covered in blood, and he breathing heavily. Panicked, but composed, Shadowstar glided down from her perch. "What happened Emberfang?" She was trying her best to stay calm for the rest of the Clan. They had gathered around the bloody warrior, looks of shock and horror crossed their faces. "There's a wolf pack near the outer border. I was trying to get back here to get help, but they heard me and surrounded me. I played dead, so that they would leave me be." Emberfang's word were ragged, and he had to take deep breaths in between words. "I'll take care of it. You need to go see Moonveil." I nodded to a nearby warrior to escort him. What are wolves doing on our territory? Haven't they learned by now to stay away? I glanced at my warriors, and then started gathering up warriors to go on a patrol to drive out these intruders.
